Our Team

Aaron Hansen, Chef

Aaron Hansen’s culinary passion was sparked at 15 when his mom brought him into the deli where she worked, thinking a dishwashing gig might steer him away from a restaurant career. Instead, it ignited a lifelong love for cooking. From fast food joints to fine dining, Aaron explored nearly every role in the kitchen, each step refining his craft. His time at Flatwater and later as sous chef at Beholder, alongside Jonathan Brooks and Lone Pine’s Josh Mazanowski, helped him develop his signature style—thoughtful, ingredient-driven dishes with a creative twist. After a deep dive into the seafood-rich cuisine of Maine, Aaron is back home, excited to bring his journey full circle at Lone Pine, where every dish is crafted with passion and precision.

Josh Mazanowski, Owner & Wine Guy

Josh Mazanowski grew up knowing that great food and warm hospitality were at the heart of every gathering—thanks to his mom’s knack for feeding their bustling family of sixteen. His culinary path led him from Indianapolis to Seattle, where he soaked up a decade of vibrant dining culture. Returning home, he opened Beholder, earning national acclaim for its food and wine. Now, Josh is bringing that same passion to Lone Pine, named after Lonepine, MT, where his family raises Red Angus and Wagyu hybrids. At Lone Pine, Josh blends his love for exceptional food, carefully curated wines, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just looking for a great steak, Lone Pine is the place to gather, relax, and enjoy.

Ben Barnas, Chef

Ben Barnas’s culinary journey began after an injury ended his college baseball career. His mom’s kitchen had always been a hub of warmth and inspiration, but it wasn’t until Ben found himself in the fast-paced, team-oriented world of professional kitchens that he discovered his calling. From dishwashing in Ohio to honing his skills under talented chefs in Colorado, Ben’s journey has been about connection—through food, family, and friends. Inspired by the creativity of chefs across the Midwest and his love for bold flavors, Ben’s dishes strike a perfect balance of comfort and innovation. Now, at Lone Pine, he’s ready to share his love for good food and good times, making every meal a memorable experience.

Jay Leonard, General Manager

Jay Leonard brings over 25 years of food and beverage experience to Lone Pine, combining his love for hospitality with a knack for creating unique, approachable cocktail programs. After more than a decade in New York City, Jay found the perfect blend of work and play in Vermont, where he balanced his passion for the service industry with his love for snowboarding. Back in Indianapolis, he’s been a key figure in the local cocktail scene, managing programs at Union 50 and most recently serving as Assistant General Manager at Commission Row.

Known for his leadership and commitment to top-notch hospitality, Jay is excited to bring his expertise to Lone Pine. Beyond cocktails, he’s diving deeper into the world of wine, with plans to join the Court of Master Sommeliers. With Jay at the helm, Lone Pine promises a dining experience that’s as warm and inviting as it is expertly crafted.
